TUMMY TUCK – ABDOMINOPLASTY
Abdominoplasty, known more commonly as a “tummy tuck,” is a frequently performed surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall, resulting in a smoother, flatter appearance of the abdomen. The procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen that can result from pregnancy or weight gain. This procedure does produce a permanent scar – which, depending on the extent of the original problem and the surgery required to correct it, can extend from hip to hip.

LIPOSUCTION
When dieting and exercise are not enough, you may want to consider the well-known benefits of liposuction. Liposuction is best thought of as liposculpture. Liposuction is not a substitute for weight reduction, but rather a method of removing localized fat that doesn’t respond to normal dieting and exercise. Liposuction is a technique to remove unwanted fat deposits from specific areas of the body, including the chin, neck, cheeks, upper arms, above the breasts, the abdomen and “love-handles”, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves, and ankles. There are two basic techniques used in liposuction: tumescent and ultrasonic. Both techniques share core surgical elements. In fact, even if ultrasound is used, it will be followed by tumescent liposuction.

BUTTOCK IMPLANT
The curves and roundness of the buttock region have long been associated with allure, sex appeal and youth. Now through the use of buttock implants, patients can enhance those curves with body contouring that cannot be achieved through exercise or nature. Buttock implants work best in patients who want extra fullness in the upper and/or midbuttock (upper) part of the buttock. The highest-grade pliable silicone implant is used and placed through a single opening in the intergluteal area.

Since the implants will be directly in the sitting area, you will need to avoid sitting for approximately two weeks after surgery. Except for using the bathroom, you should avoid putting pressure on the sitting area as much as possible. You will need to sleep, watch TV and rest in the prone position (on the stomach) for the two-week period. Patients are able to stand and walk on the day of the surgery or one day after. Expect to be off work for about 2 weeks. In about a month, you should be able to return to the gym or work out.

BUTTOCK LIFT
The Buttock Lift is designed to tighten the skin around the buttock area. This lift is a very powerful body rejuvenating procedure for individuals with excess skin along the buttocks with associated cellulite. The procedure may incorporate liposuction to achieve balance between the torso, thighs and buttocks. The incision required for the procedure is placed very low on the back, just above the buttocks. The scar, which usually heals very well, is hidden by most contemporary underwear and bikini swimwear.

The key to a nice result is in the evaluation of the problem. The area that has the overhang needs to be carefully evaluated by Dr. Mirabile since it can be in three different areas. It can be in the lower buttock, the inner part of the buttock or on the sides of the buttock. Nearly all types of excess can be improved with the traditional buttock lift.

OTOPLASTY
Some people are born with ears that stick out from the side of the head and are more prominent than others’. For these people, surgeons have developed otoplasty, or commonly referred to as ear surgery, which surgically sets the ears back against the sides of the head, so the protrusion is minimized and the ears are brought to a normative position on the sides of the head.

Typically, the procedure is performed on children ages 4 to 14, as it is important to perform the surgery as early as possible, to prevent teasing from other children, which can be emotionally stressful to the child. Ear surgery can be performed – with no additional risks involved – on adult patients as well.

GYNECOMASTIA
Male Breast Reduction is the surgical removal of enlarged male breast tissues by the cutting out of excess tissue or by liposuction. This plastic surgery procedure is specifically created for men who suffer from gynecomastia and whose breasts are enlarged by excess fatty deposits and enlarged nipples. In most cases, the patient can return to work and normal daily activities within one week of surgery and the procedure is sometimes covered by insurance.
